RIA Advocacy

"We're proud to serve as champions for the fiduciary advice model, now and forever."

Kate Healy, Managing Director, Generation Next

Kate Healy & Skip Schweiss

Working hard for advisors, for investors, and for the financial planning profession.

Your goal is to be your clients’ trusted advisor. Ours is to help you achieve that.

We do that by helping to make your voice heard in Washington, D.C. on regulatory issues that could affect your business. We support efforts to attract young advisors and diverse talent to the financial planning profession—to better reflect the communities we serve, and forge connections to the next generation of clients.

Raising Visibility with Investors

Sharing your stories, and elevating the RIA profession.

We collect stories from advisors who talk passionately about the families they help, and about what inspires them. It reminds all of us that finance is about people, not numbers—and it creates greater understanding of what it means to be an RIA.

The Next Generation of Advisors: Helping Them Learn How to Become a Financial Advisor

Scholarship & Grant Program

The industry needs a new generation of talent to fill financial advisor jobs. We're intent on helping to develop new advisors.

Each year we give NextGen RIA Scholarships to 12 deserving students, including two focused on diverse candidates. And we award grants to universities demonstrating a commitment to educating the industry's future financial professionals. The goal? Encourage the next generation to consider pursuing a career as a financial advisor, paving the way for the future of the industry.

RIA Internship Resources

NextGen advisors can play an important role in how you meet clients' evolving needs.

Look to our RIA resources for engaging with the next generation of advisors—from guidebooks for implementing your own intern program to the RIA NextGen Career Exchange, a free job board that connects advisors and candidates for jobs with an RIA firm and internship opportunities. Because when you engage the next generation of advisors, you’re better set up to engage the next generation of clients.

Students at National LINC

Over the years hundreds of college students have seen first-hand how to become an advisor with an RIA firm, and advisors have had a chance to showcase their firms.

Each year we invite financial planning students to National LINC, our national advisor conference, offering a unique opportunity to make connections that can lead to RIA jobs and internships. These students have become powerful advocates for becoming an RIA when they return to campus and share the excitement.

Staying Active in Regulatory Affairs

RIA Advocacy in Washington

With a frequent presence on the scene in D.C., we represent what we hear from RIAs.

The goal is to help get your message through to Congress and regulators. We encourage YOU to get more involved: Consider asking to meet with your representative when he or she is home. We'll even offer ideas for talking points.

Times are changing, so we continue to find new ways to enhance our advocacy mission.

Our online hub helps keep RIAs informed and connected with regulatory updates, comment letters, and one-click access to Congressional representatives. And don't hesitate to contact us—we feel strongly about listening and bringing your opinions to the conversation.

Supporting Women in Finance—and Investors

Everyone has a part to play in making the industry more attractive to women advisors.

When we all work for greater inclusion, it not only gives opportunities to women in finance, but helps sustain the RIA profession and benefits the bottom line. Create a place where women want to work, and you can help shape a firm that's positioned to address the needs of women investors—who continue to gain control over a great deal of wealth.

We're doing our part by participating in industry efforts, through keynote speaking, sponsorships, and simply showing up. And we can help you do yours.
