Scott Snyder is responsible for leading the TD Ameritrade Institutional Trade Desk and the thinkpipes Support Team in Chicago. With 29 years of experience in the area of trading and derivatives, Snyder uses his expertise to help educate and guide registered investment advisors on ways they can help manage and grow their clients’ portfolios.
Snyder helped start the investment advisory arm of thinkorswim in 2003, becoming a registered investment advisor, and also served as Chief Options Strategist for thinkorswim, which was acquired by TD Ameritrade in 2009. At thinkorswim, he was responsible for advising, educating and trading risk-defined complex option spreads for retail clients.
Prior to joining thinkorswim, Snyder started his career as a market maker on the floor of the Chicago Board of Options Exchange (CBOE), acting in that capacity from 1983 until 2003. He was one of a handful of traders that traded all types of mergers and acquisitions, going from pit to pit. During his time on the CBOE, he was involved as a Designated Primary Market Maker, where he was responsible for making markets in over 25 different underlying equity options to accommodate the retail order flow. Snyder also was co-manager of a hedge fund and different market maker trading groups throughout his 20 year tenure at the CBOE, all while continuing to be an independent market maker.
In addition to his extensive background and knowledge of the industry, Snyder is Series 7, 65, and 24 licensed.
